St. Camillus of Lellis and Doctor, Patron Saint of Hospitals and Nurses
Saint Camillus de Lellis is the patron saint of nurses and nursing organizations. From soldier to Capuchin novice to founder of the Ministers of the Sick, Camillus entirely devoted himself to serving the poor and sick. He saw in the sick the image of the suffering Christ, and believed that all Christians should tend the sick in order to be nearer to God.
