St. Maria Goretti, Patron Saint of Teenage Girls
St. Maria Goretti was a poor Italian teenager. She was illiterate, and spent her days taking care of her siblings and doing housework. Maria caught the eye of Alessandro Serenelli, an 18-year-old neighbor, who tried to force himself upon her. Maria resisted valiantly, and was stabbed fourteen times in vital areas by Alessandro. After entirely forgiving her attacker, Maria died a virgin and a martyr for purity. She is a model for all teenagers wishing to lead chaste lives.
