Kitty Cleveland - Surrender
About the Artist Kitty Cleveland, a native of New Orleans, has been singing professionally for almost 20 years. Her voice, which has a three-octave range, has frequently been likened to a cello: rich, emotive, passionate and lyrical. She has extensive opera and theater experience and was recently nominated for a Big Easy Award (hosted by John Goodman and Harry Shearer). Kitty also sang back-up vocals for Phantom of the Opera soprano Sarah Brightman on the New Orleans leg of her La Luna tour. Increasingly invited to share her testimony and her singing all over the world, Kitty now makes her ministry a full-time commitment.
"Surrender", winner of the 2001 Unity Award for Sacramental Album of the Year, is a collection of both favorite and original inspirational songs. Kitty Cleveland wrote the title track for her father when he was wrongfully convicted of white-collar crimes and given a 10-year federal prison sentence. In searching for the hand of God in the midst of pain and chaos, Kitty's song echoes this universal quest to find meaning and consolation in our suffering.
