Born in the 13th century, Peregrine was active in an anti-papal rebellion. Once, he even struck a priest who was defending the Church. When the priest forgave him, Peregrine was changed forever and began a life of charity. As penance, Peregrine would often stand, which eventually caused medical issues with his leg. He later developed cancer. Peregrine was miraculously healed, and today is the beloved patron of those affected by cancer.
