The San Damiano Crucifix, originally designed in the Middle Ages, has been known to be a favorite among the Franciscans. Saint Francis first discovered it when he came upon the abandoned and dilapidated chapel of San Damiano, and it was there that he was summoned by God to begin his mission. Hanging on the cross is our beloved Savior, surrounded by angels and saints offering consolation to him in his darkest hour. Being one of the LARGEST sterling silver chain crucifixes which we carry, it measures a length of 5 cm (2 inches)and includes a 24 stainless steel chain ($88.95). The MEDIUM CRUCIFIX spans a length of 3.1 cm and comes with a 18 stainless steel chain ($49.95).

Imprinted on the back is the Assisi Blessing of St. Francis:
