The Rev. Albert Dolan was born on July 31, 1892, in Fond du Lac Wisconsin. Having entered the Carmelite Order during the world war, he was ordained to the priesthood in 1919, serving first as a teacher of public speaking and English composition at Mt Carmel College in Chicago. It was here in 1923, that he established the "Little Flower" Society in honor of a recently beatified Carmelite nun, Sr. Therese of the Child Jesus.
This book was originally published in 1929 under the title of "Collected Little Flower Works". After her canonization, Fr. Dolan established the eastern shrine of the Society of the Little Flower at St. Cecilia's Church in Englewood, New Jersey. For many years the Carmelite priest went about the United States and Canada giving lectures about St. Therese and establishing more shrines in her honor.
In all, Fr. Dolan wrote 53 books. Many of these, if not directly biographical, were written to promote St. Therese's practical spiritual doctrine, also known as the "little way". Our author also established the Matt Talbot Legion for the reformation of drunkards. Fortified with the sacraments, he died alone in a hospital bed in 1951.
