The Theology of the Body is the popular term given to a collection of Wednesday audiences that Blessed Pope John Paul II delivered in Rome from September 1979 to November 1984. Through these more than 130 short talks, he presents a panoramic vision of the human person that emphasizes the human body not only as a biological reality, but as a sacramental and theological reality. Additionally, he explored how authentic masculinity and femininity (and ultimately the "one flesh union") reveal much about the mystery of the Trinitarian God.
To a great extent, the theology of the Body answers two fundamental human question: "Who am I?" and "How am I to live?" With this in my mind, the Theology of the body pamphlet series offers a new perspective on the most pressing issues of our time using John Paul II's profound teaching as a "lens" to see our lives, our relationships, and our world.
